Sinistro Parrying Dagger: The Roguish One

The Sinistro Parrying Dagger is the perfect sidesword or rapier companion. Its design reflects the essential functionality of 16th-century historical daggers while integrating modern upgrades for sport practice.

Parrying daggers, also known as main-gauche (left-hand daggers), were pivotal in the late Renaissance, offering both offense and defense during duels and training. In the 16th and 17th centuries, sword and dagger combat dominated European fencing traditions, requiring mastery of both offensive and defensive techniques.

In fact, parrying daggers are a very versatile weapon, as they cover centuries of the history of fencing, with a majority of fencing masters like Manciolino, Marozzo, Fabris, Saviolo, Capoferro and Giganti emphasizing the dagger’s role in parrying and trapping the opponent’s blade while enabling quick counterattacks.

The Sinistro Parrying Dagger features curved quillons for hand safety and is available in two configurations to suit varying fencing styles. The long version emphasizes flexibility and reach, ideal for technical thrusts and counterattacks. In contrast, the shorter blade trades a part of the flexibility, enabling stronger blade control and defensive actions in close binds.

Fully compatible with our Modular Sword System™, the Sinistro Parrying Dagger offers ease of maintenance, transport, and customization. Its versatile design makes it an essential in your fencing toolkit, for training rapier and dagger techniques and compete in tournaments.

FEATURES:

  • Light and versatile: Around 550 grams, it adapts to various rapier and dagger styles and masters.
  • Heat-treated crossguard and blade: Ensures longevity and resilience.
  • Curved quillons: Inspired by historical examples, they guide and deflect strikes efficiently for superior hand protection.
  • Choose your flex: The longer blade prioritizes safe flexibility for thrusts, while the shorter version enhances structural strength for defensive actions.
