In our vision, “fit” means finding that perfect harmony between design, functionality, and personal touch, ensuring each blade feels like an extension of the fencer’s hand. This section will cover compatibility with gloves, practical tips about sword design or assembly, and guidance on choosing certain options, also to extend the lifespan of your sword.

› Standardized Grip Length

Every Malleus Martialis sword provides the best possible performance, especially in competitive environments. Standardized grip length is crucial to achieving this consistency while also streamlining our production process. Below, you’ll find detailed information about our grip lengths and the strict guidelines we follow regarding customization.

Why Standardized Grips?

  • Optimized for Competition: Standardized grip lengths are designed to ensure fairness and consistency, particularly for fencers participating in competitions.
  • Efficient Production: By adhering to standard grip lengths, we can maintain the high quality and timely delivery that our customers expect.
  • Focused on Performance: Our standard grip lengths are chosen to meet the needs of most fencers, offering the best balance and control.

Standard Grip Lengths

We apply specific grip lengths depending on the type of sword, ensuring optimal handling and adherence to historical and sport standards. Here are some standard sizes:

  • Sport Sideswords & Rapiers: 8 cm (9 or 10 cm in some specific models that require a functional different length)
  • Sport Longswords: 25 cm
  • One-Handed Swords & Daggers: 10 cm

Grip Customization Policy

We understand that in some cases, a customized grip length may be necessary. However, we strictly limit customization to ensure production efficiency and maintain our standards. Customization is available only in the following circumstances:

  • Specific Design Requirements: When a specific grip length is required, as indicated on the product page.
  • Oversized Hands: In rare cases, for customers with larger-than-average hands, we may adjust grip size—depending on our production schedule and feasibility.

Please note that we do not offer grip customization unless specifically stated on the product page, or if the modification is absolutely necessary and feasible within our workflow.

How to Request a Custom Grip Length

If you believe you require a custom grip length due to hand size:

  1. Check Product Pages: Some swords may already offer customized grip lengths.
  2. Contact Customer Support: In case of strict need, reach out to our team, and we will assess whether your request can be accommodated.

Our goal is to deliver swords that not only meet your expectations but also ensure a smooth, efficient experience during production and delivery. With standardized grips, we balance performance, quality, and craftsmanship.
