Spadoncino Greatsword: Embellish your play!
The Spadoncino Greatsword is inspired by 16th-century two-handed swords as documented in Achille Marozzo’s combat treatise, Opera Nova (1536). With a total length of 150 cm and a weight of 1800 grams, the Spadoncino presents the adequate dynamics to seamlessly adapt Marozzo’s teachings to modern practice, enabling immediate response to an opponent’s attack— a fundamental principle in the master’s work.
Central to Marozzo’s teachings are the Assalti—a series of structured sequences designed to master the two-handed sword both in solo and paired exercises, similarly to “kata” in Eastern Martial Arts. Marozzo’s Assalti include two “pure” forms and a third integrating strette di mezza spada—techniques executed from crossed swords.
The Spadoncino Greatsword faithfully respects historical proportions and, while blunt, preserves parameters closely aligned with those of museum greatswords. Its diamond blade provides excellent binding potential and controlled flex, while the fuller extending from the ricasso reduces weight and offers a comfortable thumb placement. The addition of the distinctive parrying lugs and a thick ricasso ensures enhanced hand protection and precise control, perfectly suited for Marozzo’s teachings.
FEATURES:
- Perfectly proportioned and agile: Weighing close to museum greatswords, the Spadoncino allows for swift handling and authoritative strikes.

- Customizable configurations: Choose from four tailored setups, featuring pear pommels paired with either straight or curved crossguard, that can be mixed and matched with blade’s shoe-shaped or triangular parrying lugs.

- Blunt edges, proper flexibility and thickened tip: Prioritizes safety in HEMA training and competition.
