1912 Sabre | In stock

The 1912 Sabre combines a Pecoraro hilt with a Radaelli-style curved blade, a lobed ergonomic grip for superior handling, and a lightweight guard with a comfortable and protective shape. Its sides gently curve outward to better deflect blows, and it also features two small wings along the arch that connects to the grip like the original one. Its agile blade offers excellent flexibility and balance, while the wide hilt comfortably accommodates most HEMA gloves.
Its thoughtful design makes it ideal for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), historical fencing, stage fencing and film productions.

Description

1912 Sabre – A Modern Tribute to Italian Sabre Legacy

The 1912 Sabre is a faithful interpretation of early 20th-century Italian fencing sabres, meticulously reconstructed from original artifacts and fencing treatises. The blade is directly inspired by a Radaelli-style curved blade we personally measured, paired with a historical Pecoraro hilt we acquired and studied in detail. Directly referencing Italian fencing traditions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the 1912 Sabre is shaped to reflect the fencing philosophy of masters such as Pecoraro, Pessina, Radaelli, Masiello, and Barbasetti. It follows the proportions of museum originals, yet has been fine-tuned to ensure optimal weight distribution, durability and control.

The 1912 Sabre incorporates our Modular Sword System™, so it’s fully dismountable. While the original design has been respected with obsessive attention—down to the curvature, cross-section, and hilt architecture—we infused it with just enough of our signature Malleus Martialis approach to deliver a tool that performs as impressively as it looks.

FEATURES:

  • Heat-treated crossguard and blade
  • Curved Light Blade: Offers superior control in binding and fluid cutting motion.
  • Wide winged guard: Enhanced deflection and glove space.
  • Rounded quillon block: Premium comfort and grip for finger placement.
  • Lobed ergonomic grip: Ensures a secure and comfortable hold.
  • Blunt edges, high flexibility and thickened tip: Prioritizes safety in HEMA training and competition.
  • Historical design with modern upgrades: Reconstructed from original sabres and manuals, designed specifically for Martial Arts and Historical Fencing.

The 1912 Sabre is a modern athlete’s tool born from historical research. Its light weight, balance, and attention to authentic detailing make it the ideal choice for competitive sabre fencing, reenactment, or historically informed martial arts practice.

  • Handmade Character: Variations between items of the same type, asymmetries, edge misalignments, slight variations in static and dynamic parameters, and in grip color are inherent to the handmade production process.
  • Image Disclaimer: Product images are for reference only; actual appearance may vary due to differences in screen settings and display characteristics like resolution and color accuracy.
  • Warranty Notice: These variations do not affect the functionality of the sword and are not considered imperfections or grounds for warranty claims.
  • Blade and Hilt Maintenance: After use, always clean the blade, pommel, and crossguard with oils like Gunex or WD40.
  • Grip Care: Avoid applying oil to a cord grip. Instead, gently clean it by rubbing with a cloth soaked in a mixture of baking soda and vinegar.
  • Leather Grip Care: Keep your leather grip nourished with leather oil or grease, but remember— protective products will darken the shade over time.
  • Rust Prevention: Promptly address any rust, as it can penetrate beneath the surface of the steel, causing damage.
  • Storage Guidelines: Store your sword in a dry environment and away from damp gear.
  • Damage Prevention: Always round nicks or dents with a flat file to prevent breakages.
